‘A PERSONAL INTERNET FOR EVERYONE’ - An idea whose time has come

June 26, 2008 – 1:41 pm
In the mid 1970s, Microsoft's Bill Gates and Paul Allen presented the bold vision of "A computer on every desk and in every home." Back then, many people thought that it was virtually impossible to have a computer on every desk and in every home. Fast forward to 2008 and re-examine the original vision of the ubiquitous personal computer. At least, in the US, that vision is more than reality especially when you think of the computing power of handheld digital devices such as cellphones and cameras. So, what's next? Right now, we are at a phase where I'm thinking about how best to deploy Galaxy IT's unique fractal interface and semantic clustering technology. And suddenly, I'm thinking that Galaxy IT's interface and semantic clustering technology can best be used to create 'Your Personal Internet.' Imagine everyone on the planet having his or her own 'Personal Internet.' But, what is a ...

To Our Interviewers and Users: “Thank You For You Interest.”

May 14, 2008 – 3:55 pm
Who would have thought last December that the launch of the alpha version of the Galaxy It software would garner so much interest? Within four months of the software release in January 2008, Galaxy IT, Inc. has been covered by the media including the Fresno Bee , The Business Journal, and Late Update. We've also been interviewed by technology research analysts from Forrester Research, Basex, Guidewire Group, and IDC. To all interviewers, we say thanks. Of course, we've received a lot of coverage in the blogosphere, in fact, too numerous to mention. I'd therefore say a big "thank you" to all bloggers that have covered us. Your interest and coverage have exposed many more people to the Galaxy It software. An especial thanks to people providing direct feedback through e-mails as well as comments on this blog. Finally, thanks to daily users of the Galaxy It software. We especially appreciate those users ...

The Galaxy It Manager: A Unique Tool for Experiencing the Most Popular Software Applications on the Internet

April 17, 2008 – 2:57 pm
The Galaxy It software has been evolving in the public eye since January 22, 2008 when the alpha version was first released. It’s not easy describing a product when the vision for the final product is significantly different from what people are currently seeing. Imagine telling someone about a beautiful butterfly when that person is currently seeing a caterpillar! It’s not that caterpillars are not beautiful but a butterfly is a lot more different and beautiful! Regular online visitors and users of the Galaxy It software may have noticed some changes on the homepage of the Galaxy It software. It’s a change involving the evolution of the Galaxy It search application to a Galaxy It Manager. This visual information manager will consist of channels of the most popular activities on the Internet including search, shopping, notetaking, project management, collaboration, and social networking. In pursuance of our strategy for developing a Galaxy It ...

You are the Inspiration

March 10, 2008 – 12:46 pm
“You’re the meaning in my life. You’re the inspiration.” Remember those words? I remember. 1985 and I was in Stuttgart, Germany. On Sundays, I’d tune to the American Armed Forces radio featuring Casey Kasem’s American Top 40. And I used to like that song by the band Chicago. And I still like it. Any time, I say the words “You are the inspiration,” I hear Peter Cetera’s voice in the background. But I digress from my purpose of writing this blog. Last Sunday, I was thinking of a way to say thanks to a special group: people who have registered on our Galaxy It blog to receive feeds or updates to our website. It was then that I heard Peter Cetera singing in my head, “You are the inspiration.” And it was a perfect fit. Indeed, the increasing number of registrants on the Galaxy It blog is an inspiration to the Galaxy IT team. ...

And then along came DIVA, sporting her flashy new back button.

February 22, 2008 – 2:04 am
For those of you who don't keep up on Dr. King's triweekly acronyms: DIVA (Digital Information Viewing Application) is another name for the Galaxy It interface and tool set. Now I should probably preface by saying that the back button isn't quite done yet. However, after a good, long, and epic battle to wrangle the browser into submission, an end is finally in sight. Sometime in the next few days you should see a peculiar thing: your back and forward buttons working correctly with the site! As with all things in alpha, it won't be perfect on the first shot so I encourage you to email me your feedback or report any bugs! Now you may be thinking to yourself, "But, Ian, this isn't 1998! The Backstreet Boys are dead and RIA's already know how to play nice with the browser!" It is true that many RIAs -- even Flash RIAs -- have the back button all figured ...
